Back in 2018, two of us started a local arm of The Red Box Project, working to ensure schools across our area had access to essential sanitary products for every young person who needed them.

In 2020, the UK Government announced it would take over provision — and so The Red BoxProject was disbanded. But then the COVID-19 pandemic hit…

We knew hygiene poverty hadn’t gone away — in fact, we saw it growing deeper and more widespread than ever. So in December 2021, just four of us came together again to build something new: The Just Love Project, registered charity no. 1197367. Our very first care packs went out in February 2022.

We started small — really small. We packed bags around our home kitchen tables and stored stock in our garages, with nothing but drive and determination to guide us.

Today, we’re proud to be based at Glenroyd House Community Centre in Consett, led by 9 Trustees and supported by a wonderful team of 10 Volunteers. We’re still growing, still caring, and still making sure no one has to go without.
